Milo Ventimiglia, a celebrated actor renowned for his roles in “This Is Us”, “Gilmore Girls”, and “Heroes”, steps into a new light in his latest movie, “Land of Bad”. Ventimiglia’s character, Sugar, is an action hero who will stop at nothing to complete his mission.

Joining Sugar on his perilous mission are three other officials: Kinney (Liam Hemsworth), Abel (Luke Hemsworth), and Bishop (Ricky Whittle). The plot involves the quartet embarking on a dangerous incursion into enemy territory, leading to bloody sequences.

Fun on the Set

Despite the serious and violent premise of the film, Ventimiglia recounts a different atmosphere during their breaks in shooting. He describes working with Ricky Whittle and the Hemsworth brothers as “good times all the time”.

“They’re light and they’re fun and we’re having a good time and cracking jokes and watching those guys eat a pound of meat every 20 minutes.”, he says.

Ventimiglia further shares how the cast would laugh and stretch between takes, with him needing to “stretch out a little bit more” because he was one of the “old guys”.

The Hemsworth Brothers

Ventimiglia found it difficult to choose a favorite between the Hemsworth brothers. He appreciates their unique qualities and praises their good spirit, kindness, and protective nature.

“I love them all equally, as similar as they are in the way of a Hemsworth, they’re also so unique.”

Ventimiglia further shared his insights about the Hemsworth brothers based on his interactions with them.

Luke Hemsworth: Ventimiglia perceives Luke as the elder brother who sets the path and leads the way.
Chris Hemsworth: Ventimiglia has met Chris a few times and sees him as the middle child who has gone out and done his own thing.
Liam Hemsworth: Ventimiglia describes Liam as being deep with emotion.

Ventimiglia also praises the Hemsworth parents for raising such good-natured sons.

Russell Crowe: The Absent Co-star

Despite being a part of the same film, Ventimiglia did not get the chance to meet co-star Russell Crowe, who plays the role of Reaper, an Air Force drone pilot who provides crucial support to the crew from the sky.

“It’s actually hard when you do a Russell Crowe movie and you don’t get to work with Russell Crowe.”, Ventimiglia admits.

However, Ventimiglia expresses his admiration for Crowe and the work he did in the movie.

The Inevitability of Tragic Endings

Ventimiglia reflects on the tragic endings his characters often meet, both in “This Is Us” and “Land of Bad”. He views it as a representation of life itself, where the end is certain but unknown.

“So why not live life fully? Why not experience what these characters are experiencing at such a level that you were really invested in them?”

He further shares a specific moment in “Land of Bad” that humanized his character for him. It was the scene where Sugar advises Kinney to choose Froot Loops because his daughter loves them. From that point onwards, the audience sees Sugar not just as a soldier, but also as a father.

Ventimiglia encourages everyone to live life fully, be good, and enjoy themselves, just like his characters do.
