Monica Lewinsky: Reclaiming Her Story with a Powerful Campaign

Monica Lewinsky, a name that has been marred with controversy and scandal, is now rewriting her narrative with an impactful campaign. Partnering with Reformation, Lewinsky launched the “You’ve Got the Power” campaign that not only showcases the brand’s stunning workwear collection but also encourages people to utilize their voice and power to vote.

A Collaboration with Reformation

Monica Lewinsky, now 50, teamed up with the renowned fashion brand, Reformation, to debut the “You’ve Got the Power” campaign. The campaign was launched on February 26, with Lewinsky being the face of the brand’s workwear collection.

In her own words, Lewinsky shared why she chose Reformation as her partner in this endeavour. “The stakes are especially high this year,” she said, emphasizing the importance of voting. “Voting is our voice. It’s the most powerful aspect of democracy. I’m excited to be working with Reformation to remind people to register, use their voice and vote. An empowered woman uses her voice,” she added.

“Together with Monica Lewinsky and Vote.org, we’re reminding you that you’ve got the power,” Reformation’s website proclaimed. “And that you need to vote this year.”

A Fashionable Power

The partnership wasn’t just about political empowerment. It also showcased some stunning designs that exemplified modern power. From a slouchy blazer that could have been taken straight from Meghan Markle’s closet to a crisply tailored skirt and vest reminiscent of Wall Street fashion, the collection was a hit.

“Monica’s been empowering women to use their voices and feel powerful for a long time, so it just makes sense that she’d help us do the same,” the brand said in a statement. “And while great clothes won’t fix everything, putting them on and going to the polls is a pretty good place to start.”

Reflecting on the Past

The former White House intern has spent decades reflecting on the Bill Clinton scandal, a situation that seemed to affect her more than him. Lewinsky, who was in her early 20s at the time, was in a relationship with the then-president, a man in a position of power. The media and critics heavily bullied her because of their affair.

During a 2015 TED Talk, Lewinsky spoke about the “devastating consequences” of her actions, titled “The Price of Shame.”

“Not a day goes by that I am not reminded of my mistake, and I regret that mistake deeply,” she said during her TED Talk. “In 1998, after having been swept up in an improbable romance, I was then swept up into the eye of a political, legal and media maelstrom like we had never seen before.”

She has since learned to recapture her magic through her courage to tell her side of the story.
